Founded in Seattle in 1892 as the Swedish Club, the Swedish Cultural Center has grown to become a center of Scandinavian activities in the Pacific Northwest. Our members are not only Swedes and other Scandinavians, but people of many cultural backgrounds.

SWEA Seattle is part of an international network of Swedish-speaking women. The Seattle chapter was founded in 1990 and has about 110 members today. Our members come from diverse backgrounds and professions and range in age from 18 to 80+. As part of our fundraising, we organize events for our members about once per month. Several of our events celebrate our Swedish holidays and traditions, and others are networking opportunities or social events. Other ways we stay in touch is through this website and through our membership magazine, SWEA Bladet.

Accredited teachers Lena Powers and Stina Cowan founded the Swedish School Association in Seattle in the summer of 1998. The school offers complementary Swedish education according to the Swedish Board of Education's curriculum to children who speak Swedish. All education takes place at The Swedish Cultural Center in Seattle once a week for 2.5 hours.

Swedish American Chamber of Commercehttp://www.saccseattle.org

The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in Seattle was founded in 1990 as business interests between Sweden and the Pacific Northwest grew. The Seattle chapter is one of 18 regional chambers around the country.

Our membership is diverse - from small to medium-sized Swedish and American companies, to Swedes in American businesses and Americans in Swedish businesses. We also have a significant student membership. They are young people full of talent looking to offer their expertise to companies as interns and participate in a variety of chamber endeavors.

Our events offer learning and networking opportunities for our members, as well as exposure to a variety of businesses.

Learn more about our activities and mission on our site. Welcome to the Seattle chamber!
